12/9/2023 0 Comments Sweet midi player ipad![]() ![]() Loved this way of interfacing so much that, for my old first gen iPad Air that is still in use sometimes, I bought a cheap stylus for it. So much this! MIRack + pencil is a great “patch anywhere” combo. I've also found that the Apple Pencil, which I initially bought for drawing (the other main thing I do with the iPad), makes lots of Music-related apps much easier/nicer to use. It can be quite interesting as a controllor/sequencer, voice source, and FX unit particularly when integrated so seamlessly for live audio/CV/MIDI routing/mixing between all 3. (For me the idea of trying to shoehorn something meant to be a DAW control surface like TouchOSC into being a modular controller makes little sense with that being so cheap and easy to use)Īnyway, I thought to mention this here as it facilitates easy simultaneous use of PC & iPad with modular. Plus there are some unique, and for me compelling, iPad only things like the fairly new Loopy Pro or wonderful KB-1. I think somewhat less appreciated are many of those exact same products on iPad for MUCH less. Most doing PC integration know of those plugins & applications particularly VCVRack & Reaktor. This approach allows simultaneous use/routing between modular, PC, iPad all at the same time. ![]() Sweet Sixteen is the path for mod CVs to MIDI to PC and/or iPad. Plus it is all 2 way so I can send MIDI between PC/iPad and, more importantly, MIDI to CV through the 6 pitch/gate/mod plus 8 trigger lanes on the KSP+BSP. In this way all of them are available simultaneously on PC and iPad with comprehensive onboard filtering/routing. All digital.Īdditionally, most of my MIDI controllers (Sweet Sixteen, F8R, Beatstep Pro, Keystep Pro, and Quneo) are on a powered hub into it. Basically 6 aux sends stereo return or 6 sources in either direction. You can flip between the 4 mic ins plus 2 mono/stereo between PC & ipad, 6 mono/3 stereo from PC to iPad and stereo back, 6 mono/3 stereo from iPad to PC and stereo to it. I had forgotten how unique it is despite the 4 input limitation. I am fairly hybrid so one or two stereo submixes out of a soundstage votices combination works for me with with other sounds coming from VCVRack/Reaktor/Maschine and iPad and/or individual record sessions per modular part. For anyone doing more dense 1 shot multitrack performance straight out to DAW (quite a few I gather) that would rule it out. (The newer 4c model is the exact same thing with USB-C interfaces instead) The biggest downside IMHO is only having 4 inputs. I recently pulled out this interface and swapped it in for simultaneous iPad & PC integration. ![]()
